Is This Job For You?

The ideal candidate for this job is someone with the following qualities and abilities:

  • Experienced in working with teens/families who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Provide family therapy. This is not required, but highly preferred.
  • Organized and autonomous. Timely completion of diagnostic assessments, treatment plans and case notes in electronic health records system. Ideal candidate can navigate multiple work systems/programs with ease.
  • Parent support. Provide guidance and consultation for parents and guardians.
  • Group counseling and therapy. This is not required, but a plus if you are able to develop and implement curriculum (with support) in a group setting.
  • Coordination of care. Ability to work with outside support professionals, including schools and medical professionals.
  • Team Player. Willingness to openly communicate and collaborate with team members.

The Nitty Gritty:

So we have your attention! Here are the specific requirements for the job:

  • Must have Master’s degree or higher
  • This is a clinical therapist position. You must be licensed in the State of MN
  • Knowledge and work experience within the LGBTQIA+ community. At minimum, 50% of this therapist’s caseload will be LGBTQIA+
  • Conscientious with regard to task follow through and completion
  • Complete diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, case notes, and consultation notes as guided by clinic best practices and state licensing standards
  • Availability to work one Saturday per month (4 hours) to accommodate for various client needs. This requirement is dropped after two years at Sentier

CHILD THERAPIST JOB OPENING

  • Access to a beautiful playroom as well as a traditional talk therapy office. Our playroom has windows, an open floor plan, a sink/counter space and ample storage!
  • Two to three hours per month of Registered Play Therapy (RPT) individual and group supervision is provided by RPT leaders in the community. This is paid for Sentier Child Therapists. We provide internal licensure supervision for clinicians who are not yet fully licensed or provide funding for supervision if external support is needed.

In 2019, Sentier built a state of the art playroom for our Child Therapists and clients under the age of 11. We currently have one part-time Child Therapist and are looking to hire a second, full-time Child Therapist to support our community’s growing need for child therapy. This clinician could also see limited teenagers, if interested.

Clinic Description:

Sentier Psychotherapy is a growing, community-based mental health and wellness organization that provides counseling services to adolescents, college students, families, and adults. Sentier offers individual, family, and group counseling and therapy, as well as seminars and classes. We pride ourselves on providing collaborative and comprehensive care to each of our clients.

Job Duties:

  • Provide assessment and counseling services to youth ages 11-17
  • Provide assessment and counseling to adults, ages 18+
  • Provide family therapy (not required for this position, but a plus)
  • Complete diagnostic assessments
  • Develop, implement, and update treatment plans
  • Maintain updated case notes in electronic health record system
  • Develop curriculum and provide group counseling and therapy
  • Coordinate care with school and medical professionals
  • Write entries for the Sentier blog
  • Share office with other practitioners

Type of Position:

  • Eventual Full-time caseload (15-25 client sessions per week)
  • A minimum of 50% of sessions must be after 2:00 pm and/or on weekends
  • Full-time caseload will not be available on date of hire, part-time caseload likely right away
  • Person hired will be a W2 employee; not currently accepting contract applicants

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from accredited university
  • Eligible for clinical license in state of Minnesota
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Desire to work with adolescents and young adults
  • Progressive, creative mindset, motivation, and ability to be a self-starter
  • Technical proficiency with EHRs, client portal, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, wellness apps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fully licensed in state of Minnesota
  • Interest or willingness to pursue training in EMDR
  • Interest or willingness to pursue training in DBT
  • Minimum typing speed of roughly 40 words per minute
