Healing looks different for everyone, and sometimes we can all use help finding the tools that work for us. Finding and developing a relationship with a therapist can be the catalyst for making those discoveries, and I am thrilled to be a part of that process by helping folks get started with therapy. I am Sentier’s Client Care Coordinator, and I will help you get started with your therapist when you reach out to us.
I believe strongly in the value of listening, both to others and to ourselves, and therapy is a wonderful place to lean into the power of being heard. Part of the way that I listen to myself and others is through art. When I’m not working at Sentier, you can find me creating a big mess as I spend a few hours collaging by myself, curled up on the couch next to my roommate while we keep our hands busy with sewing projects, or collaborating with a friend to compile and edit a zine. I find that creating art is a way to listen to myself in the moment and interacting and collaborating with other people’s art enhances my understanding of their perspective.
Therapy is a beautiful way to create a ripple effect of understanding--once we better understand ourselves and have skills to maintain our mental well-being, we are better able to compassionately communicate with and support those around us, and all of those human connections combined have the potential to change the world.
