Mental health is unique to every individual. We all experience a myriad of emotions that develop in childhood, and can sometimes get stuck. In patterns of thinking, reacting, beliefs about ourselves and others, dwelling on the past, feeling outside of our bodies, or getting trapped in our heads. For children, this experience can be especially confusing and tumultuous. This is why finding a therapist for your child is so important; to catch some of these patterns early and help them develop coping skills and a strong sense of self.

Sam specializes in working with children, parents seeking to improve relationships with their children, and queer populations. Sam acts as both guide and witness, wading alongside their clients through the muck and magic, offering insight and perspective while ensuring clients have the proper gear to make it through the journey of childhood. And just as importantly, they celebrate their clients’ growth, wisdom, intuition, and strength. One of Sam’s main goals as a therapist is to teach their clients to be empowered in their lives from a young age. When parents work with Sam, they can expect to deep dive into their own lives to truly understand the hows and whys of who they are and what they bring to their families, with a lot of empathy and self-love. Sam’s clients typically find them to be very real, calm, grounded, and curious, with a healthy mix of integrity and silliness. They are a previous theatre kid, after all.

Sam is also a “cringey millennial” with a lifelong difficulty maintaining eye contact. They love animals, frequently speak in different accents, dislike overhead lights and loud noises. Are they autistic? Maybe. Relatable? Very. Sam enjoys embroidery, Doctor Who, anything related to witches, magic, plants, and cats. They have a bachelor’s degree in studio arts and enjoy bringing art into the therapeutic process.
