Barb believes that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and have the ability to become their most authentic selves. She has seen how therapy can help people find their voices from a young age, which is why she is drawn to work with children in play therapy. Barb understands that life can be difficult to navigate and she considers it a privilege to help provide support when needed. With both child and adult clients, Barb works toward building a strong therapeutic relationship through deep listening, mutual respect, care, and warmth.
Barb’s clinical work is also inclusive of people who are neurodivergent, queer, experiencing family transitions including divorce as well as educators. She is a play therapist for children ages 4-11 and also enjoys supporting the parents of her play therapy clients. Barb can provide family therapy when appropriate for the client. Barb’s other primary client population is adults who are educators. After 15+ years in the field of education, Barb understands the stressors of that work and she is passionate about supporting folks in those important roles. Educator resilience, growth mindset, and coping skills development are all parts of her work with adults.
Barb is a queer, indigenous woman who is also the mom of a teen and has positive personal experience with divorce and co-parenting. Barb loves to be outside – especially when it’s warm and the sun is shining! She volunteers and fosters dogs and cats through CoCo’s Heart Rescue in Wisconsin. She is a lifelong learner, and when she’s not at work you might find her curled up with a good book and a cup of coffee.
Barb works with individuals across the spectrum of age, race, gender, ability, and sexual orientation.
