Autism Assessments at Sentier

Sentier Psychotherapy offers diagnostic assessments with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by a licensed masters level clinician for clients aged 16+. These assessments do not replace psychological testing and are not comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations.

Autism Assessments at Sentier are intended to screen for ASD when clients have symptoms that are possibly affecting their ability to access full functioning at work, school, and in relationships. Autism Assessments at Sentier can also provide diagnostic clarity if an existing diagnosis does not seem to capture their full experience. This can also be a supplement to existing therapeutic treatment.

What This Is:

  • Diagnostic Assessment that specifically screens for Autism.
  • A diagnostic assessment that screens for Autism may also reveal additional diagnoses or comorbidities.

What This Is Not:

  • Psychological or neuropsychological testing
  • IQ testing
  • Assessment for learning disabilities

Further evaluation may be required by some educational institutions and workplaces or for disability benefits and/or academic accommodations.

An Autism Assessment at Sentier occurs in four parts:

  • Preparation for the appointment, including the completion of a battery of various inventories, assessment forms, and answering client history questions for the intake. Therapist will review all of these materials prior to the Autism Assessment Intake appointment.
  • Meeting #1 with the therapist to complete the Autism Assessment Intake appointment. This may include additional assessments as well as an interview of the client and/or the client parent/guardian.
  • Meeting #2 with the therapist for the Interpretation session to discuss outcomes of the Autism Assessment.
  • Meeting #3 with the therapist for goal setting to help the client determine next steps.

Mary Maggie Devorak, MS, LMFT and Abby Voigt, MSW, LICSW are Masters level therapists at Sentier who provide Autism Assessments. They both commonly work with folks with neurodivergence in the therapeutic setting. If a client desires to establish ongoing therapy with either therapist after completing an Autism Assessment, that may be an option based on therapist caseload and availability as well as client needs.

Fees

  • Diagnostic Assessment/Intake Appointment: $250
  • Interpretation Session: $160
  • Goal Setting and/or Termination Session: $160
