Transition Year Parent Group

Who

This group is for parents whose children are leaving home for the first time to attend college.

What

This is a monthly support group for parents going through transitions during the first year of their children leaving home for college.

When

This group is not currently running due to low enrollment. We will begin a new session when enough interest has been shown.

Where

This group meets in person at Sentier Psychotherapy:

475 Cleveland Ave. N.
Suite 103
St. Paul, MN 55104

Located in the Merriam Park neighborhood of St. Paul, just north of I-94. Suite 103 is on the main level of the Ivy League Place, and our door is in the southwest corner of the building. A large parking lot is available outside our entrance.

Why

When children leave home for college, parents also go through big changes, and it is valuable to spend dedicated time with other people who get it. This group aims to provide peer support around the transitions in the household and in parents’ own shifting identities. Transition Year for Parents will also utilize research-based resources to address how to maintain appropriate boundaries with college students in support of their own mental health during this big first year.

How

Please email Sarah Souder-Johnson at sjohnson@sentiertherapy.com or call 763.913.8261 to learn more.

Fees

Group cost is $50 for screening session and per group session. Sliding fee available. Superbills are provided for all group members and are particularly helpful for those who would like to submit to HSA, flex accounts, or insurance providers for out-of-network reimbursement. Therapist may be able to submit out of network insurance claims if requested following payment.
