This is an hourly, contract position that provides administrative support to Sentier’s owner and therapists. The ideal candidate for this position will be skilled at managing a variety of tasks, can work independently, has excellent communication skills to appropriately support clients who are inquiring for therapy services, and pays strong attention to detail.

Is This Job For You?

The ideal candidate for this job is someone with the following qualities and abilities:

  • Must have a Bachelors degree or higher. 
  • Knowledge of the mental health/medical field.
  • Experience in administrative support and onboarding new clients at a therapy or medical practice. 
  • Organized and autonomous. A proven ability to take directions and complete tasks in a timely and thorough manner. Ideal candidate must be able to navigate multiple work systems/programs with ease and organization. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA. Candidate will have the ability to navigate sensitive information with integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills through various platforms including phone calls, emails, and connecting inquiring clients with appropriate therapeutic support at our clinic. 
  • Flexible and open to varying administrative projects when working with practice owner.
  • Conscientious with regard to task follow through and completion. 
  • Knowledge and work experience within the LGBTQIA+ community. At minimum, 50% of Sentier’s clients are LGBTQIA+ 
  • Can work remotely up to 20 hours per week
Job Responsibilities:

So we have your attention! Here are the specific responsibilities for the job:

  • Assist practice owner with administrative, practice management and marketing tasks
  • Return phone calls and email inquiries from prospective clients and share information about the clinic/our services in a timely manner. Assist prospective clients in scheduling with appropriate therapists.
  • Onboard new clients before therapy intake sessions.
  • Work with clients to create and update records in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with owner and graphic designer on a quarterly newsletter via Mailchimp.
  • Update client scheduling software message templates.
  • Work with management team to create and update therapy/client forms and internal forms.
  • Assist management team with internal audit 
Pay:

This position is an hourly contracted position that is paid at $25 – $35 per hour. Pay is determined by past work experience and quality of references.

  • Experienced in working with teens/adults, LGBTQIA+ and trauma (other specialties welcome!).
  • Provides family therapy. This is not required, but highly preferred.
  • Organized and autonomous. Timely completion of diagnostic assessments, treatment plans and case notes in electronic health records system. Ideal candidate can navigate multiple work systems/programs with ease.
  • Parent support. Provide guidance and consultation for parents and guardians (if working with teens).
  • Group counseling and therapy. This is not required, but is a plus if therapist is able to develop and implement curriculum (Sentier does provide support).
  • Coordination of care. Ability to work with outside support professionals, including schools and medical professionals.
  • Team Player. Willingness to openly communicate and collaborate with team members.
The Nitty Gritty:

So we have your attention! Here are the specific requirements for the job:

  • Must have Master’s degree or higher
  • This is a clinical therapist position. Therapist must be licensed in the State of MN
  • Must be available to meet with clients during morning hours and/or some combination of Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays
  • Ideal caseload is 15+ clients per week
  • Knowledge and work experience within the LGBTQIA+ community. At minimum, 50% of this therapist’s caseload will be LGBTQIA+
  • Conscientious with regard to task follow through and independent work completion
  • Complete diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, case notes, and consultation notes as guided by clinic best practices and state licensing standards
  • Must be available to attend monthly (3 hour) consultation one Tuesday morning per month

We are moving to a new location at the end of February 2026. Our new office will feature two state-of-the-art playrooms for child therapy clients under the age of 11. We currently have three part-time child therapists and are seeking a second full-time child therapist (18+ clients per week). This clinician may also see teenagers, if interested.

  • Child focused. Provide therapy services to children under age 11 and their guardians. Applicants not trained in DC 0-5 will be considered.
  • Experience working with children and families within the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Ability to provide family therapy (preferred, not required).
  • Organized and autonomous with timely completion of assessments, treatment plans, and documentation.
  • Provide consistent parent guidance and consultation.
  • Group counseling experience is a plus, especially curriculum development with support.
  • Coordinate care with schools, medical professionals, and other providers.
  • Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Availability to work one Saturday per month (4 hours). This requirement is removed after two years at Sentier.

Clinic Description

Sentier Psychotherapy is a growing, community-based mental health and wellness organization that provides counseling services to adolescents, college students, families, and adults. We offer individual, family, and group counseling and therapy, as well as seminars and classes. We pride ourselves on providing collaborative and comprehensive care to each of our clients. We are expanding our practice to include services for couples.

Position Description

The Couples Counselor will provide psychotherapy to couples and potentially families. Clinical work focuses on reducing symptoms of relationship dissatisfaction, acute relational crises, sexual issues, interpersonal challenges, and family dynamics. This new role has the potential to become full-time as the therapist builds their caseload.

Type of Position
  • Eventual full-time caseload (18+ client sessions per week)
  • W2 position (contractor applications not accepted)
  • Full-time caseload not available at hire; part-time caseload likely immediately
Job Duties
  • Complete weekly orientation and training with supervisor until fully familiar with Sentier systems and policies
  • Provide meet-and-greet consultations, diagnostic assessments, and couples counseling
  • Develop, implement, and update treatment plans
  • Provide counseling, assessment, and referrals to couples as needed
  • Provide family therapy (preferred, not required)
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records in the electronic health record system
  • Develop curriculum and provide group counseling or therapy (optional)
  • Coordinate care with other professionals
  • Complete administrative tasks including scheduling, billing entries, communication, and EHR documentation
  • Participate in required continuing education and ongoing consultation
  • Attend and participate in one monthly 3-hour clinical consultation meeting
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards set by the State of Minnesota licensing boards
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum provisional licensure in Minnesota (LAMFT, LPC, LGSW, etc.)
  • Desire to work primarily with couples
  • Post-graduate couples therapy training (EFT preferred)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and conflict management skills
  • Comfort working independently with multiple online systems
  • Commitment to professional networking and ongoing development
  • Respect for diversity and willingness to grow cultural competencies
  • Technical proficiency with EHRs, client portals, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and wellness apps
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fully licensed in the State of Minnesota
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) training
  • Interest in advanced EFT certification
  • Typing speed of approximately 40 words per minute
