COVID-19 Grief and Loss Support Group

COVID-19 Grief and Loss Support Group

At this time, some of our groups are available virtually through secure video conferencing. Other groups are suspended for the time being until we are able to meet in person again. Please see the specific group pages or contact [email protected] for more information.

Who

This group is for children who are completing grades 4-6. Some exceptions may be made for 3rd grade students based on developmental readiness to be in a group with older children.

What

This group will help kids process feelings related to COVID-19 including abrupt loss of the end of the school year, missing friends and loneliness, changes to special event and travel plans, anxiety about the virus, evolving expectations for summer, and adjusting to the “new normal” of social distancing.

When

Four Thursday mornings from 10-11am beginning June 18 and ending July 9, 2020. There is a possibility of extending the group if the kids and parents feel it is a good fit and want to continue the support after the initial four weeks. New members may join after four weeks.

Where

This group will meet virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. The group therapist will provide more instruction after a child is registered for the group.

Why

There is a lot of change happening right now, and kids need to process their feelings of loss. Connecting with others who have similar feelings is an important part of that process.

How

To ask questions and to register for the group, contact therapist Annalise John at [email protected].

Fees

The cost per session is $25 for a total of $100 for this four-week group. Sliding fee is available. Please inquire with the group therapist. Therapist may be able to submit out of network insurance claims if requested following payment.
