Andrea Schroeder

MS, LPC, LPCC
(She/Her)

Andrea believes that all people want to be heard, seen, and understood. When clients have an environment that is non-shaming, encouraging, and uplifting, their lives begin to shift for the better. She acknowledges the struggles people are experiencing (no toxic positivity here!) while helping clients be compassionate towards themselves as they go through it. This work in therapy empowers clients to assert their needs outside of sessions and make changes that benefit their lives. Andrea works across the lifespan with a focus on teens and emerging adult clients, because she enjoys helping people who are exploring and becoming their authentic selves.

A specialty area for Andrea is eating disorders or dysphoria around body image, and she utilizes a health at every size (HAES) lens as well as the principles of intuitive eating. Andrea is passionate about helping clients identify unhealthy messages they have received about beauty ideals and reject these ideas. Andrea is also trained in the family-based treatment model for younger clients. Andrea utilizes eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma and daily life stressors. She is also trained in dialectical behavior therapy and incorporates DBT skills into individual sessions with clients to help them improve emotion regulation, decrease acting on impulses, and improve relationships. Clients often see Andrea for anxiety, depression, and life transitions as well.

Andrea is licensed to see clients in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Andrea participates in an eating disorder consultation group, various professional organizations, and a therapist book club. She values building professional relationships that help her gain knowledge and best help her clients. Outside of work, Andrea enjoys self defense classes, yoga, walking her dog, and doing arts and crafts.
