(They/Them)

Shelly has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for more than 10 years and continues to be a committed student of these practices. She is delighted to share what she has learned in her own life with teens at Sentier! Shelly has been trained to teach John Kabat Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program and offers several MBSR groups (not affiliated with any religion) each year. She has also completed training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teenagers (MBSR-T) with Gina Biegel and has been trained to teach the Mindfulness in Schools Project curriculum, .b (dot b).

Shelly teaches a weekly mindfulness meditation practice group for teenagers and offers quarterly retreats for young adults at Common Ground Meditation Center. In addition to teaching mindfulness, Shelly has devoted her professional career to working with children and teens, primarily in schools. Shelly is the founder of Edify Youth, a small business that provides contract social work services to Minneapolis charter schools and also currently works as a private psychotherapist (not currently seeing psychotherapy clients at Sentier).

Shelly currently facilitates all mindfulness meditation groups at Sentier Psychotherapy.
