We are so excited to welcome Sam Herdman, MCOUN, LPC (they/them) to our Child Therapy team! We asked Sam a few questions to help us get to know them better:

Sentier: How did you decide to become a therapist?sam herdman mcoun lpc

Sam Herdman: I had a counselor in college who had a profound impact on me, and I wanted to be that person for other young people.

S: Who do you love working with as a therapist, and what excites you about working with your chosen populations?

SH: I love working with littles and parents and seeing the changes in both as they learn to work with one another in more adaptive ways.

SP: How would you spend an obligation-free day?

SH: Embroidering weird nerdy things, painting, cuddling cats, working on my chicken coop, writing and doing research for my creative projects.

SP: You’re getting takeout. What’s your meal of choice?

SH: Indian!

S: What is your favorite method of self care?

SH: Everything listed above, plus a 2 hour nap and not speaking to another human for a solid day or two.

S: What are your professional goals as you start at Sentier?

SH: I’m a sucker for continuing ed, so probably further training in IFS, TFCBT, EMDR, and perinatal support, and maybe exploring supervising one day.

If you are interested in working with Sam, please email Ellie, our Client Care Coordinator, at  [email protected]
